Mose Wright’s 1955 testimony at the trial of Emmett Till’s murderers demonstrates that fear did not hinder Black resistance during the civil rights era.
Sierra Phillips hails from Minneapolis, Minnesota, and is a History Ph.D. student at The Ohio State University. Her research interests include the Civil Rights Movement and African American women’s history. She hopes to illuminate the experiences and activism of Black domestics in Minneapolis at the height of the Civil Rights Movement by investigating their interlocking systems of oppression.
