Alicia Johnson

Ms. Johnson is a scholar of 19th century African American History currently finishing her PhD at Carnegie Mellon University, after spending thirteen years as a writer and researcher for the North Carolina Office of the Governor Her research includes examining the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition as a site of violence for African Americans, African Americans as a movable periphery that maintains the center, and African American community building in Southern cities following Reconstruction.
